Research from Catalyst examines how mentorship, sponsorship, and performance feedback relate to career advancement and retention among Black employees in Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The findings indicate that Black employees who report limited support and insufficient performance feedback are more likely to express intentions to leave their organizations.

The research highlights the importance of consistent feedback, meaningful mentorship and sponsorship, and equitable access to career opportunities as organizations work to strengthen retention and advancement.
